Multidisciplinary center opens to treat atrial fibrillation
Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. – September 21, 2015 – Tenet Florida Physician Services (TFPS) is pleased to announce the opening of the Florida Institute for Atrial Fibrillation – a multidisciplinary center focused on treating heart arrhythmias and cardiac related conditions. The Florida Institute for Atrial Fibrillation is led by the team of Dr. David Weisman and Dr. Matthew Klein, two of Palm Beach County’s leading cardiac electrophysiologists, and Dr. Neil I. Galindez, a cardiothoracic surgeon. Together, this trio of TFPS physicians will employ a team oriented approach to treat complex atrial fibrillation (AFib) cases. The Florida Institute for Atrial Fibrillation features the latest advanced technology, medications and surgical treatment options for symptomatic atrial fibrillation (AFib).
Treatment options at the Florida Institute for Atrial Fibrillation include the hybrid convergent procedure, electrical cardioversion, radiofrequency catheter ablation, pacemaker implementation and the MAZE procedure.
Dr. Weisman is certified in clinical cardiac electrophysiology, cardiovascular diseases, and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine and in nuclear cardiology by the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology. He specializes in cardiac ablation without the use of fluoroscopy (X-ray), device implementation, percutaneous lead transvenous extraction (including laser lead extraction), comprehensive electrophysiology studies and the hybrid convergent procedure. Dr. Weisman is on staff at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center, Good Samaritan Medical Center, St. Mary’s Medical Center and Delray Medical Center.
Dr. Matthew Klein is certified in cardiac electrophysiology, cardiovascular disease and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Klein’s areas of interest include specialization in the ablation of complex arrhythmias, hybrid ablation for AFib, cardiac resynchronization therapy, left atrial appendage closure devices and implantation of cardiac devices and techniques. He is on staff at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center and Good Samaritan Medical Center.
Dr. Galindez is a fellowship-trained cardiothoracic surgeon. His areas of interest include coronary revascularization, valvular surgery, temporary and long term mechanical circulatory support (ventricular assist devices) for the treatment of end stage heart failure, and minimally invasive surgery. He specializes in surgery for management of atrial fibrillation, including hybrid ablations (Convergent Procedure), closure of the left atrial appendage using minimally invasive techniques, and the MAZE procedure for treatment of concomitant atrial fibrillation (AFib coexistent with other cardiac problem needing heart surgery). Dr. Galindez is on staff at Delray Medical Center and Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center. He is fluent in English and Spanish.
