Internal Medicine

When to See an Internal Medicine Doctor?
Your internal medicine doctor monitors your ongoing health and wellness along with any chronic medical conditions. You may be referred to an internist by your family practice physician when you have a more complex or chronic condition, which is why internists are sometimes referred to as "the doctor's doctor". Your internist can:- Provide preventive and wellness care, including annual checkups
- Identify and treat common and complex medical conditions and illnesses
- Address substance abuse and mental health issues
- Treat common problems of the eyes, ears, skin, nervous system and reproductive organs, however they do not see pregnant patients or children
- Refer you to highly trained specialists for more complicated health concerns
